Fear Knocks is an e-journal focused on publishing literary fiction, poetry, and commentary in the genres of horror, suspense, fantasy, and science fiction.  There must always be a twist of fear in all we publish, and writers who believe there are no niches for their work are also welcome.  Is your work graphic, profane, violent, unpublishable?  We believe that the mind is where the real action takes place - the real graphic, profane, and violent, as well as the real fear, anxiety, and panic.  Inference is what we want when we read a story - show, don't tell - plant the seeds, nurture them with your writing skills, and they will come to fruition in the minds of your readers by the last line of your work.

Instructions
Please send virus free submissions, double-spaced in a standard 10 or 12 pitch font via email to submissions@fearknocks.com with "submission - your name" in the subject field.  Standard fonts are Times New Roman or Arial, but we also like Georgia.  You can email your work cut and pasted into the body of the email, or attach it as a file.  Please use a standard file format (.rtf, .txt, .doc, .wp.).  If your work is accepted for publication a short biography and photo (optional) to accompany your work will be requested (and possibly rites to a time-share in your soul).

Fiction
Well-written stories that deliver intellectual stimulation or strong emotional punch in 7,500 words or less.  Longer stories may be considered, but only after a writer establishes himself/herself.  Remember, subtlety and inference - show, don't tell.  Looking for horror, suspense, fantasy, sci-fi, but we will consider other genres if they don't seem to fit anywhere else.

 Poetry
Any form of poetry that contains fresh imagery, style, and language free of clichés - one page or less per poem, 5 poems maximum per submission please.  If you use profanity make sure it's relevant: do not use profanity just for shock value, or because you are too intellectually challenged to think of something better - Remember: poetry that spawns reflection.

Non-fiction
1000 to 2500 words of essay, commentary, book or story reviews, that are relevant and share the ethos, logos, and pathos of Fear Knocks.  The way writers weave words in persuading or informing their audience is critical.

Artwork/Photography
If we like it and it conforms to our html tools we will accept it, expecially if it accompanies a great story or poem.
