Although Halloween is my favorite holiday, the Grinch is my favorite holiday cartoon: how could anyone think of anything better than combining Dr. Seuss and Boris Karloff, the original Frankenstein Monster, into a Christmas cartoon? I don't take the religious stand on Christmas - to me, Christmas is all about cartoons... and nightmares.... as Karloff narrates, "Their mouths will hang open a minute or two then the Whos down in Whoville will all cry boo hoo." Unfortunately, this doesn't happen - the Whos ruin it - but it reminds me of another Christmas tale that has a similar happy ending - in fact my favorite story of the holiday season - Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
A Christmas Carol is an anomaly - where else can you find horror and Christmas all in the same story. Yes, it isn't a Stephen King or H. P. Lovecraft Christmas, but it's still good. I recommend you get a copy and read it. It asks many of the same questions that all good fiction asks of its audiences.
Just a few comments on Fear Knocks. I am trying my best to get these things out every other month, but between getting good submissions and finding the time to actually put the web pages together, I ask you all to cut me a little slack, be understanding (and forgiving), and it will continue to get better. I'm thinking about cutting some sections out, as you'll notice as you click through the pages. Oh, and by the way, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God bless us, everyone.
